Veterinary nurses

Karen qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1994 and played an active role in supporting Zoe during her nurse training, who went on to become our practice director. After working for us briefly in 1996, Karen joined us again in 2006 until 2008, and on her return to the area, she re-joined Coastline in July 2017 and became our Head Veterinary nurse in 2019. She has gained a further qualification from City and Guilds in small animal nutrition and has become an NVQ assessor and clinical coach.

Karen is married with a grown up son. She also has a dog called Annie and a cat called Betsy, and in her spare time she enjoys walking and socialising.

Emily has worked for Coastline since 2016 starting as an Animal nursing assistant. She then enrolled at college as a student veterinary nurse and qualified in May 2022. Emily has also recently completed a certificate in feline nursing, something she is very passionate about.

Emily has 7 cats at home as well as 4 ducks all of whom she absolutely adores. Emily is married and in her spare time enjoys spending time out of the house and with her friends and family.

Anne qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1995 and has worked in many practices gaining loads of invaluable information that she now shares with our team. Anne has been working at coastline since 2019 and is currently studying for a further qualification in emergency and critical care nursing.

Anne has a very busy life outside of work with her small holding full of ducks, geese, chicken, pigs, goats, horses, donkeys, turtles, tortoises, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs. Anne also does charity work to help stray dogs in Romania and is a wonderful wildlife nurse.

Rachel joined our nursing team in 2010 and successfully qualified in October 2014 and has a keen interest in critical and medical nursing.

Rachel is married, has two little boys and has a rescue dog named Rosie who loves agility. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys walking, reading, socialising and raising money for charity.

Nikki joined our nursing team in November 2015 and achieved her qualification in 2006. She has a keen interest in surgical and medical nursing. Nikki is married with two children and has a rescue cat called Lucy.

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, walking and reading.

Lucy has worked at Coastline since 2019. She joined as a patient care assistant and then progressed into a student veterinary nurse and finally qualifying as a Registered veterinary nurse in August 2022. Lucy has experience working out of hours dealing with emergencies and inpatient care and has a keen interest in exotics.

Lucy lives at home with her boyfriend, 4 cats, a snake, rabbits, Guinea pigs, chickens and her two rowdy Dalmatians. Lucy hopes to progress her love for exotics by taking further qualifications in exotic nursing.

Emma joined our nursing team in April 2017 as a patient care assistant and enjoys taking care of the animals we have in. Emma has 2 rescue kittens called Vincent and Audrey.

In her spare time, Emma enjoys socialising, travelling and keeping fit. Emma is also a wonderful wildlife and pet photographer and spends a lot of her weekends participating in animal photo-shoots.

Sherrie joined our team as a patient care assistant in December 2017. After previously assisting in the care of horses and gaining a horse riding instructor qualification in this area, Sherrie now enjoys helping to take care of our patients here at coastline.

At home she has a three Cocker spaniels called Joey, Pip and Clover and a Plum headed parakeet called Billie. In her spare time, Sherrie enjoys going out and socialising with friends and family.

Courtney joined Coastline in July 2021 as a patient care assistant and will be starting college in September for her qualification in veterinary nursing.

Courtney lives at home and has 2 Chihuahuas, 1 cat, 2 lizards, 2 rabbits and 3 guinea pigs. In her spare time Courtney is usually looking after peoples pets as she has her own pet sitting business.

Sascha joined coastline in October 2022 as a patient care assistant. She previously worked as a patient care assistant at another out of hours practice, so has plenty of experience in the role. Sascha loves all aspects of her job, especially patient care because she often gets to have cuddles with the patients.

At home Sascha has Rabbits, horses and dogs, and once worked at a local horse sanctuary. Sascha is hoping to be enrolled at college in the next year or two to become a student veterinary nurse to train to eventually become a Registered veterinary nurse.

Hayley joined our nursing team in January 2016 as a patient care assistant. She completed an animal management course at college and during her three and a half years at Africa Alive achieved a level three qualification in work-based animal care (zoo/wildlife establishment) in an animal keeper position.

After a change in career, Hayley decided to follow her dream of veterinary nursing. She has a very playful cat called Joey and a dog called Willow and in her spare time enjoys going to the movies, walking and spending time with family and friends.

Amber joined the nursing team in January 2020 and enrolled on a patient care assistant course which she qualified in June 2022. Amber is looking forward to starting her student veterinary nursing in the next year or so.

Amber lives with her boyfriend and her 2 cats Pete and Motley a well as her 2 snakes and many fish. In her spare time she enjoys attending concerts, seeing friends and family and watching documentaries.
